Salzburg´s coolest mountain
Mountain enthusiasts romp over the Kitzsteinhorn glacier the whole year round. One can enjoy perfect powder snow in Autumn, sparkling firn slopes all through Spring and, in between, a magnificent white Winter with absolutely guaranteed natural snow cover. The unique diversity of Salzburg´s only glacier ski area within the alpine region of the Hohe Tauern, is just amazing: 20 totally modern cable cars and lifts reach up to 3029m. The slopes are extremely varied and offer everything from enjoyment on wide glacier pistes to conquering fast, steep runs. Excellent winter sport enjoyment and a real outdoor feeling are guaranteed here.
Cross-country skiing
Cross-country skiers find some remarkable conditions on the glacier. The versatile advantages provided by cross-country skiing at such an altitude can be put into action throughout most of the year at the Kitzsteinhorn.On the glacier plateau at 2900 m there is a nearly 3 km long cross-country track. This is the main meeting point for all Nordic fans at the Kitzsteinhorn

Guided hikes
Panoramic glecier hike
This free guided hike offers walkers the opportunity to discover impressive vantage points more than 3000 m above sea level as well as the glacier itself. Experienced Kitzsteinhorn hiking guides know the answers to your questions on the mountain world and the glacier with its alpine fauna and flora. The starting point is the summit station’s panorama terrace at 3029 m above sea level.
A hike across the glacier plateau is followed by a train ride back to the summit terminal. This is an easy walk to discover "glacier contact". |

Alexander - Enzinger - hike
From the Kitsteinhorn to the Maiskogel
After ascending to the summit station at 3029 m above sea level, a walk through the glacier snow and slides in the ice arena, you set off with your guide from the Alpincenter at 2450 m above sea level on a high altitude hike to the Maiskogel. The Alexander Enzinger trail to the Maiskogel features a fascinating variety of alpine flora and unique views. Finally, you take the Maiskogel cableway back down to the valley. |
When:-------- Thursdays in July and August
Duration: 9.30 am - 4.30 pm, about 4 hours of walking
Meet: 9.30 am at the Kitzsteinhorn valley station
Equipment: trekking boots, rain protection, drink bottle, snack
Requires: moderately good stamina and sure footedness

My first 3000 m peak
Guided Kitzsteinhorn summit tour ( 3203 )
Once you’ve reached the top you can fully feel the force and boundless freedom of the high alpine mountain world. Experience with a state qualified mountain guide the joy of conquering a 3000 m peak and enjoy the unique 360° view after being fastened to a rope for a climb of 200 altitude metres (takes about one hour). Then it’s back down to the summit station for a lunchtime break. Afterwards, explore the glacier on a hike through the snow that includes views into the crevices of the eternal ice. |
When: Wednesdays in July an August
5 participants required
Lasts: About 5 hours, good stamina and surefootedness
required
Meet: 10 am at the Kitzsteinhorn valley station
Equipment: Tour through high alpine terrain – appropriate
equipment required: warm jacket, trekking or
mountaineering boots (non-slip sole, ankle high),
rucksack, sunglasses and sun cream. Gloves and
caps may also be hired.
Price: EUR 52,00 incl. cable car ticket, guide,
hire fees for all climbing equipment
